Just for fun

You know when you see something and think... I can totally make that? Well I had some time and did just that. Not an entirely original idea, but there's always room to change a design and improve upon it.

So here is my coffee with steam ring, because I can.
Made from silver sheet with a brushed finish and smooth polished edges.

Final project - pendant

For this project I took the just go with it approach. The only sure thing was that I wanted to cast and it will have a tube setting. So I got started on carving away at my wax block without a direct reference.
I really enjoy this process because very organic designs come out of it.

Transformation Broach-Finished

Final finishing on my broaches!
Patina is liver of sulfur on the copper, which I would like to have gotten a bit darker (gradually from each piece), but over all I'm happy with the way they turned out.

Transformation Broach

This is the second project of the semester, a series of three broaches transforming the stages of a tornado.

Here is a progress shot of one of the three:

Also photos of them all in a final form:

I have to finish up the pin stems (3 different types) and patina. This is close to how they will look finished.
